Sunburst Mirror made with shims!

I had this big blank wall that you could actually see from outside, looking into our family room, from the front of the house.  It drove me crazy!

So I went from this

to this!

It was really easy! And looks GREAT!!

a lovely Hutch, sad to see it go....

This Hutch was sturdy, made of maple,  had some great storage, and was my favorite piece so far.

Before
I sanded the top, re-stained with Minwax Walnut, & painted with ASCP in Old White.

USA Block art

So I was at Home Goods with my friend Ro and spotted these blocks on clearance for $1.50, didn't need them, didn't know what to do with them, BUT had to buy them.  They already had the word love on them but I felt I could do better.....

A little Mod, yes we are on a first name basis now, some scrap book paper, and Ro's Cricut cutter.....

These will go in the family room for the Holiday weekend but outdoor pics come out the best for me so far........

Independence Day and Red, White, & Blue Treats

I hope everyone has a wonderful, relaxing, firework filled
 Fourth of July!!!

Our Independence can only be celebrated because of the sacrifice provided by our Active duty, Retired, and Veteran service members.  Here are a few links to the Military related Non-profit organizations that we are currently supporting.  Hubby and I have been very busy with all of these organizations over the last year, please click on each logo to read more about them.

Vets House Inc.

And here are a few of my favorite Fourth treats from around the web.  These are all easy, yet would be the hit at any celebration!

These festive kabobs (I am a big fan of the kabob, btw) can be found here.

I think these are my favorite!! Found here.

Finally, these have an adult kick, but can be made in a kiddie version too!  Found here.

How time flies....

Soooo I want to do this whole blog thing.....then I'd better get posting....but time just flies, and it's not like I haven't done anything to post about I just haven't mastered time management or the art of picture taking........one day......

So here are a few things I have been up to with more detailed posts to follow, hopefully soon!

Remember the awful lamp situation that I photographed when I transformed my cork board......
Well it's been remedied, not a hundred percent, but to a level that makes me happy.

I need lamp shade advice.  This one is so plain.....HELP.

Little Miss Momma inspired me to make this......

And I also made one for Boo Kitty!

(warning cute child pic overload)

I finally used Modge Podge and it's awesome..........
More to come on this later......

While I spruced up the lamps I hit up this table that has been in the garage for about a year..........

I think "she" looks so much better now!

I also polished up some stemware I got at the Habitat store, no real purpose for these they are just pretty!

My favorite piece to date is one that I am donating to charity.   We are supporting Vets House Inc. here in VA Beach.  This piece is going up for auction, I am sooooo thrilled to be a part of the event, and I will let you know how it goes.

There are also three other pieces that I cannot wait to start....
one will require me to strip and re-stain for the first time.

This one is a treasure chest that was actually filled with TREASURE!

And finally, the ultimate Miss Mustard Seed inspiration piece.

I hope you all come back to see what I do with the rest of these pieces.

Memorial Day

It was AMAZING!
Our Memorial Day started out at 7 am sharp with Turtle watching. Apparently our yard is a hatching ground.  This is the third one in two weeks.

We had a family breakfast at a local spot that is always wonderful.

Then we were off to a park for some kite flying.

A little spice rub shopping at Williams & Sonoma.

Home for some cuddle time.

And then back out to splash around in Chesapeake Bay.
Such Hams!

Boo Kitty and Chupi Lupi

BUT the best part was at dinner.  During our discussion of what Memorial Day meant our daughter just stood up, went over, and gave her Daddy the sweetest hug.  It was just one of those pure moments in a six year olds life when she just "got it".  Our family is a military family and we are very proud of that and so she felt he deserved a hug.

Many men and women sacrifice so we can enjoy many freedoms like this day of leisure, for this I am thankful.

Hope you all had a great Memorial Day!
