Roll Top Desk Transformation

This desk is for Chupi Lupi.....
Ok, so I have strange nicknames for my bambinos.  This one is for my son.  He LOVES it and that's all that matters....(pronounced Choop-y Loop-y, cause I know you were wondering!)

Another thing he also loves is his revamped desk.  My daughter, Boo Kitty, started Kindergarten this year and so she got her first desk.  Well the little man felt left out and who am I to disappoint the sweetest three year old I know.  So we got this.......
Roll top desk.
Photo taken after I took the drawers out!

I do love to mix in traditional pieces so child sized roll top desk was right up my alley.

After taping and cutting around the adorable key hole and lock mechanism on the top drawer I went to work.  I sure wish I had the key!!

And now Chupi has this.......

I used Valspar spray paint because of the roll top part.  I figured paint would be a problem getting into the slats and this was the easiest solution.

I took photos outside because we really don't get much natural light in the house.  I also decided to not spray the cubbies on the inside but may change my mind on that in the future.  What's your opinion??  It wouldn't be too hard to do I still have most of one can of spray paint left!

Here it is one more time..........Before & After.

Hope you like it!  I plan on linking this to a party or two if I can figure out how.  HEY, I am new to this blogging biz and there is sooo much I don't know.  Wish me luck....

It looks fantastic! I absolutely love it. My husband and I have an antique desk and don't you know, the ornate key I found at an antique store and gave to him in high school as the "key to my heart" fits!!! So keep your eye out for keys that look like they might fit, those old locks really aren't that sophisticated. Good Luck! (oh, and I'm your newest follower)

Love the red! Found this on Miss Mustard Seed. I absolutely love how you've made this look like a brand new piece!

Thanks for the comment on my blog - I LOVE this! My mother had a rolltop desk, and ever since I've been a kid, I said I would have one. After I moved to the East Coast, I've keeping my eye out for one similar to hers
